When should I schedule my session?
Newborn sessions should be scheduled as soon as you make it into your second trimester to ensure availability on the studio’s calendar. All other sessions should be at least booked 2-3 months in advance. However, Juniper and Sage Studios occasionally has last minute openings!

When do newborn sessions take place?
Newborn sessions are best done when baby is between 4-14 days old. Please contact the studio as soon as baby is born in order to schedule your session. Babies need to be in this age range to ensure those squishy poses; of course if a baby needs to spend time in the NICU we will work something out!

What if my newborn is older than 2 weeks?
Don’t fret. While newborns are easiest under two weeks of age, Aly Whelan has photographed hundreds of babies and has experience up to 6 weeks. While the stereotypical newborn photos aren’t all guaranteed, typically older babies can at least pose in some!

Is there a non-refundable deposit due to reserve a spot?
Yes! Each session will vary on the amount due to reserve the spot. This money is used as a booking fee and saves you a spot on my calendar. All others who inquire about that date will be turned down to make sure you are the top priority!

When should I do my maternity photographs?
Maternity sessions are done when mom is between 29-34 weeks along. This ensures the bump will be nice and big but also mom will be comfortable.

Do you sell digital files?
A number of digital files are included in every collection.

How much is your retainer?
The amount of the booking fee depends on the session; please expect to pay at least $95 to reserve your date. This retainer is non-refundable (exceptions are made in extreme cases) as it will give you exclusive access to the date and time slot as Juniper and Sage Studios only books a limited number of sessions a month.

What do parents wear for your newborn sessions?
Parents will be mailed a welcome packet complete with a prep guide for your session. Men look best shirtless or in a form fitting neutral (gray, beige, black) t-shirt. Women look best in a strapless shirt or tank top in the same color.

What should we wear for our family/maternity session?
Aly Whelan loves to help plan the wardrobes for her sessions. Wardrobe assistance is included in every session, this works by e-mailing her ideas. From there you will discuss outfit ideas, colors, gowns, etc.

Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! We do offer no interest payment plans on our collections. Please inquire for more details.

Do you edit baby skin?
Most definitely. Baby acne, splotches and flakes on the face are all retouched. Juniper and Sage Studios does request that parents apply lotion on their baby before coming to the session to get the big flakes out of the way in order to save time editing.

Do you only shoot newborns naked?
Mostly, however, I have a large number of wraps and infant outfits used for sessions as well. Juniper and Sage loves for the emphasis to be on baby, not a bulky outfit. The outfits that Juniper and Sage Studios does use are made especially for newborn photographs and are soft and sweet.
